The laws governing communications and media relations encompass the regulation of television and radio broadcasting to prevent the exposure of inappropriate content and to assure adequate distribution of service. The Federal government regulates a majority of broadcast media including the laws governing the content of programs. The Communications Act of 1934 created the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) which is responsible for establishing the standards and regulations of both interstate and international communications.
