Beth PalmerRosen Hagood partner, Elizabeth “Beth” Palmer, was among the attorneys recognized as a Leader in the Law by South Carolina Lawyers Weekly.  The award was presented at a dinner on March 16, 2016, in Charleston, South Carolina.

The South Carolina Lawyers Weekly Leadership in Law award recognizes legal professionals from across the Palmetto State, who have achieved success in their law practice, made contributions to society, and have had an impact on the legal industry.

“It was an honor to receive this award,” said Palmer.  “It is humbling to be among the group of selected attorneys and to be recognized for public service.”

Palmer, a partner in the firm, is an active member of the SC Bar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) where she previously served as the chair of the Bar Convention Committee for multiple years. She currently serves as a co-chair of the SC Bar YLD’s Public Service Committee, a committee that was created last year in order to bring Project Street Youth, and other public service initiatives, to South Carolina.

At the national level, Palmer is a member of the American Bar Association’s YLD (ABA YLD).  She was one of two coordinators responsible for the development and implementation of the 2013-2014 national public service initiative, “Bullyproof,” which educates children, parents, and educators about bullying. In 2014, Palmer was named an ABA YLD Star of the Year in recognition of her work with Bullyproof and was appointed as the Public Service Director for the 2014-15 bar year. In that role, she was responsible for the creation and implementation of “Project Street Youth: Young Lawyers Advocating for Street Youth,” a nationwide initiative which, in part, provides legal services to homeless and transitional youth. Palmer led the ABA YLD in hosting free clinics for homeless youth in Oregon, South Carolina, Illinois, and Texas. Palmer and her committee also developed a toolkit for use by other young lawyers across the country to replicate these clinics and meet the needs of homeless youth.

Palmer is currently overseeing the implementation of the ABA YLD’s newest public service project, “World Wise Web: Protecting Our Youth from Internet Predators.” The program is designed to educate our youth about safe online behavior.

Palmer focuses her practice in the areas of business and commercial litigation, employment law, personal injury, probate litigation, and education law.
