Houser Henry and Syron is proud to recognize our pro bono efforts with Al Purdy A-Frame Association, a not-for-profit company to which the firm has been providing legal services over the past year, helping to ensure a local landmark and refuge for writers is maintained.
The association is named for Al Purdy, a well-known Canadian poet honoured with awards including the Order of Canada. It was in his A-frame house where he wrote many of his pieces, and when the home was threatened with sale and demolition, the Al Purdy A-Frame Association purchased the property and established itself as an association to assist and inspire future Canadian writers.
Houser Henry & Syron has been assisting Al Purdy A-Frame Association with its purchase of the property, its incorporation, and most recently with plans to gain charitable status. Partner Roger Nainby, known for his experience and efforts with charitable organizations, took the lead in our efforts and, along with lawyer Katherine Grossi, remains involved in our work with the Association.
