Elizabeth F. Jennings is an attorney at Beresford Booth PLLC in Edmonds, Washington, whose practice includes: estate planning & probate, trust and estate litigation, and general civil litigation.

Elizabeth is a Seattle native.  She graduated from Clemson University in 2008 and from Boston College Law School in 2011.  After graduating from law school, Elizabeth returned to Washington and returned to Beresford Booth, where she had worked as a summer legal intern in 2009 and 2010.

Why law? What led you to become an attorney?

I went to high school at Holy Names Academy, which is an all-girls school and was on the crew team there, so women & sports and the enforcement of Title IX were often discussed. I went on to row in college on a team that was primarily established in order to comply with Title IX, so the effect of Title IX on my life and education eventually peaked my interest in and led to a greater interest in the law in general.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

My days vary depending on whether I’m preparing for a court appearance or not. Some weeks I never step foot in the courthouse and others I end up in court on multiples days and in multiple counties around the greater Seattle area.  When I’m not in court, my days usually consist of responding to e-mails and I also interact with my clients over the phone or in person in order to strategize their case or discuss options.  I also spend time actually researching and writing in various practice areas, both assisting other attorneys in the office and working on my own cases.  Overall, I like to get out of the office and be in court so I can argue a motion that I had previously researched and drafted.

What do you enjoy doing when you aren’t working?

I love playing kickball! It’s a great way to socialize and meet other people around my age, at the beginning of their careers. My two dogs also keep me busy – they love going hiking with me!

What do you do to build your client base?

The partners at Beresford Booth have made great connections through networking and generally being involved in the community. I try to do the same –putting myself out there to meet potential clients.  I volunteer with the Junior League of Seattle and serve on the board of a local non-profit to help people in social settings and through common interests.

Have you utilized Primerus to network?

I have! I attended the Young Lawyers Section Boot Camp last year in New Orleans, where I met attorneys from across the country.  Also, whenever a client needs counsel in other states or countries, or other local attorneys want a referral to a lawyer in another jurisdiction, I like that I can recommend other Primerus firms.
