Professor Yinka Omorogbe was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1979. She is a Consultant to Giwa-Osagie & Co. on oil and gas matters. She is a legal practitioner with degrees from the University of Ife, Nigeria and the London School of Economics and Political Science. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1979. Until recently, Professor Yinka Omorogbe was the Company Secretary and Legal Adviser of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Prior to her appointment, she was Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She has been in academics since 1983, first at the University of Benin from 1983 to 1990. Between 1990 and 2002 she was at the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos where she taught oil and gas law and international Law at the undergraduate level and international economic law at the postgraduate level.
Her main areas of specialization and research are in the areas of energy, natural resources and international law. She is the author of over thirty publications, many in journals of international repute. These include: The Oil and Gas Industry: “Exploration and Production Contracts” and “Oil and Gas Law in Nigeria”.
Professor Omorogbe is a member of the Academic Advisory Group (AAG) of the section on Energy and Natural Resources Law (SERL) of the International Bar Association. She was Secretary General of the Nigerian Society of International Law for several years and is presently the Deputy President II of the Society. She is also a member of the Council of Legal Education, and the Board of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.
In the past ten (10) years, she has consulted for various organizations such as Shell and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).
