Monty Montgomery is a partner in the Mobile office and has been with Ball, Ball, Matthews & Novak, P.A., since 2003 when the firm opened an office in Daphne, Alabama. Mr. Montgomery specializes in the defense of personal injury and construction defect claims. He regularly represents general contractors and developers, as well as numerous trades in the construction industry, including masonry contractors, flooring contractors, roofing contractors, plumbing contractors and window/glazing contractors. These claims range from residential claims to multi-million dollar commercial claims involving media production facilities, neighborhoods, shopping centers and high rise condominiums. In addition to construction defect and contractor liability claims, Mr. Montgomery’s practice primarily involves the defense of high exposure claims against individuals and commercial enterprises, including commercial carriers. Mr. Montgomery’s practice also includes the defense of businesses who find themselves facing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) claims and lawsuits. Mr. Montgomery has tried numerous jury trials, including catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims, to a defense verdict. Mr. Montgomery is also licensed in Florida and regularly handles construction and injury claims in the Circuit Courts of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and Leon Counties. He has also represented clients in contract and fraud actions in the United States District Courts for both the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida.

Mr. Montgomery enjoys an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell and is a member of the Mobile and Baldwin County Bar Associations as well as The Alabama Defense Lawyers Association and DRI. He is licensed in all state courts in Alabama and Florida, The United States District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama, The United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Montgomery has also served the State of Alabama as a Deputy Attorney General.

In addition to his service with the City of Daphne as a member of the Daphne Planning Commission, where he served as Secretary, Monty is a member of the Daphne-Spanish Fort Kiwanis Club. He also volunteers as a soccer coach for Christ the King Catholic School.

Mr. Montgomery graduated cum laude from The University of Montevallo in 1998 and earned his J.D. from The University of Alabama School of Law in 2001. He and his wife Megan have two young children and live in Baldwin County, Alabama.
