Weldon Johnson is the firm’s senior partner, with over thirty-five years of experience. A 1966 graduate of Wofford College, Mr. Johnson received his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1969. He was a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for several years before returning to South Carolina to practice law, joining with James W. Alford to form Alford & Johnson. In 1983, Alford, Johnson & Salane merged with Barnes, Stork, Wolff & Reyner to form Barnes, Alford, Stork & Johnson, LLP.

Mr. Johnson’s practice includes medical malpractice defense and surety law. He also represents a wide variety of hospitals across South Carolina and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Mr. Johnson is a certified civil court mediator in state and federal court.

Mr. Johnson is a member of the South Carolina Bar and the Richland County and American Bar Associations. He chaired the Health Care Law Committee of the South Carolina Bar from 1999-2000 and has served on the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline. He is also a member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, and the American Board of Trial Advocates. In 2009, Mr. Johnson was honored to be selected to South Carolina Super Lawyers 2009 in the area of medical malpractice defense.

Mr. Johnson authored the South Carolina section of the Payment Bond Manual published by the American Bar Association. He co-authored the South Carolina chapter in Fifty State Construction Lien and Bond Law, published in 2000 by Aspen Publishing.

Mr. Johnson is admitted to practice in South Carolina, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In his free time, Mr. Johnson enjoys playing golf.
