Robert J. Olson, Esq.
Robert Olson joined Neil Dymott as an associate in 2012. Mr. Olson’s practice areas include civil litigation, transportation, and employment and the defense of general and professional liability and medical malpractice matters. He is a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, Southern California Veterans Bar Association, ABA Air and Space Law, Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association and the Naval Helicopter Association.
Mr. Olson attended University of San Diego School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor. He was also the recipient of the ABA Air and Space Law Forum Scholarship. While attending law school, Mr. Olson served as a Judicial Extern for U.S. Magistrate Court Judge William McCurine, Jr. in the United States District Court, Southern District of California. He also worked as a legal intern for General Dynamics, NASSCO Shipyards drafting Non-Disclosure Agreements and government contracts for the U.S. Navy and commercial ships.
Prior to joining Neil Dymott he served as a Legal Officer in the United States Navy researching and conducting hearings regarding legal issues under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. He also served as a Flight Instructor, Public Affairs Officer and an Anti-Terrorism Officer. He received the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal and the Sikorsky Rescue Award.
Mr. Olson is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. He attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Maritime Logistics and a Minor in Marine Engineering.
