Mr. Avilés-García is a Member of Ferraiuoli and the Chair of the firm’s Employee Benefits Practice Group.
Mr. Avilés-García joined Ferraiuoli in 2010. Prior to joining Ferraiuoli, Mr. Avilés-García was a partner at Pietrantoni Méndez & Álvarez LLP, specializing in employee benefit matters in mergers and acquisitions, ERISA litigation, pension plan administration and qualification with Puerto Rico tax authorities, correction procedures with the U.S. Department of Labor and complex pension plan design, operation and reorganization consultations (including mergers, spinoffs and transfers of assets between qualified retirement plans), as well as other deferred compensation arrangements.
He also has extensive experience in estates and trusts legal practice, having advised high net worth individuals in estate planning and litigation matters. In addition, Mr. Avilés is also a proficient attorney in general corporate tax matters and tax litigation in the administrative and judicial level.
Mr. Avilés-García is a regular speaker in conference dealing with legal implications of pension plans, estates and trusts, and recurring updates on tax legislation regarding such matters. He also has a solid background in the private corporate world, having worked for Procter & Gamble as financial analyst and forecaster for Puerto Rico and Latin American Export Divisions (1996-2001).
