R. Britton Kelly, Esq.
Russell Britton Kelly, “Britt”, is an associate with Rosen, Rosen & Hagood, LLC primarily practicing in the areas of construction litigation and commercial litigation. Britt has been admitted to practice law in the state courts of South Carolina and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. In 2001, Britt earned a degree in Political Science from the University of the South (Sewanee). Britt received his Juris Doctor from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis in May of 2005.
After starting with the law firm in the summer of 2005, Britt began participating in local and state leadership organizations. Currently, Britt serves as the Treasurer of the Charleston Lawyers Club and is the Co-Chair of the Annual Bar Convention Committee of the Young Lawyer Division of the South Carolina Bar. In May of 2010, Britt graduated from the second class of the South Carolina Bar Leadership Academy and was recognized by the South Carolina Bar’s leadership in Columbia at a gathering of the Bar’s House of Delegates and Board of Governors. In addition to his participation in legal organizations, Britt is involved in Charleston area leadership activities. In June of 2009, Britt graduated from the Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Charleston program. Since finishing the program, Britt has remained active with his Leadership Charleston class and is currently serving with other Leadership Charleston graduates as a “Lunch Buddy” at Sanders-Clyde Elementary/Middle School in Charleston, a program designed to give selected students positive role models within the community.

Personal Information
Britt was raised in Jasper, Tennessee, by Zach and Elizabeth Kelly. He is married to Ryan McInnis Kelly from Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Britt and Ryan currently live in Mount Pleasant.
Background
Britt completed his undergraduate education at the University of the South (Sewanee) in 2001, where he was a double major in Political Science and Spanish. In May 2005, Britt graduated second in his class from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis.
While in law school, Britt was a member of the University of Memphis Law Review and the University of Memphis Moot Court Board. Britt was awarded the Dean’s Award for outstanding performance in Civil Procedure I and received CALI awards for receiving the highest scores given in his classes of Civil Procedure I, Evidence, and Decedent’s Estates. As a third year law student, Britt was recognized by Who’s Who Among American Law Students as an outstanding American law student.
During his final year of law school, Britt worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Kay Spalding Robilio, Circuit Court Judge for Civil Division V, Shelby County, Tennessee. After clerking for Rosen, Rosen & Hagood during the summer of 2004, Britt was hired as an associate attorney to practice in the areas of construction litigation. Britt began work as an associate of Rosen, Rosen & Hagood in August 2005 with the construction law group. While Britt’s practice has focused primarily on construction matters, he has also worked on numerous commercial and business litigation cases during his tenure at Rosen, Rosen & Hagood, LLC.
