Philip C. Brickman joins the firm as Of Counsel. Mr. Brickman is a resident of New Orleans and graduated from Millsaps College in 1993 and Tulane Law School in 1998, where he received a certificate of specialty in maritime law. He was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in 1998 and has been practicing nearly every aspect of maritime, environmental, complex casualty and insurance coverage litigation for over 15 years. In addition to Louisiana state court, Mr. Brickman is admitted to practice before all Louisiana federal courts, the U.S. Southern District of Texas and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Brickman has represented shipping companies, oil companies and liability insurers in cases involving ship collisions, personal injuries, oil pollution, complex casualties and cargo damages. More recently, he was closely involved with providing legal advice in connection with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill response and served as on-site legal counsel for BP in the incident command centers.

In addition to maritime casualties, Mr. Brickman has a robust practice in general casualty and insurance coverage litigation. He also represents clients in matters of customs and immigration law, including proceedings before U.S. Customs and Border Protection for alleged violations of the Jones Act and other shipping regulations.

Mr. Brickman has authored multiple articles on topics of maritime law and made several presentations at seminars addressing current issues with maritime litigation. He is active in many professional associations including the American Bar Association’s TIPS/Admiralty & Maritime Law Committee, where he currently serves as a Vice-Chairman. In 2014, Mr. Brickman received the New Orleans Citibusiness Leadership in Law Award, which recognizes attorneys for their professional and community involvement and achievements that have set the pace for the overall community. He also earned an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell in Admiralty & Maritime Law, Insurance, Civil Litigation, Litigation, Oil & Gas Law.
