Peter Baumstark graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Manitoba, in 1981 and since then has conducted a general practice of law in Winnipeg. From 1988 until 2008, Peter was a partner in the firm Bueti Baumstark. Thereafter, he was a partner in the firm Gange Goodman & French from January 2008 until July 1, 2016 when he joined PKF.

Peter has a broad range of experience encompassing many areas of law including civil, family and criminal litigation, corporate & commercial transactions, real estate transactions, as well as wills and estates. Included in his preferred areas of practice are corporate and commercial transactions, such as the purchase and sale of businesses, commercial properties, and residential apartment buildings, the related financing and security transactions, incorporation of small to medium size businesses, shareholders agreements, corporate restructuring and partnership agreements.

Peter also assists clients in their more general legal requirements including the purchase, sale and refinancing of their residential properties, the preparation of wills, powers of attorney, and the probate and administration of estates.

Since 1989 Peter has been an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg Inc., a service organization dedicated to providing service to children in need. He is a past President of the Club (1994-1995) and served on the Board of Directors (1989-1996). From 1998 to 2015, Peter served as a Director and Legal Counsel to the Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg Foundation Inc., which Foundation provided funding to various charities. In 2008 Peter was honored to be elected a Mel Osborne Fellow, the highest Canadian Kiwanis recognition for outstanding service to Kiwanis and the community.

Other areas of Peter’s community involvement have included volunteering his services to the Community Legal Education Association to conduct seminars on wills and estates, family law, and business law. He was also a Director of the Corydon Avenue Business Improvement Zone (BIZ) in its formative years. Since 1989 Peter has been an active member of Association Trade and Commerce, a business networking organization through which entrepreneurial ideas and business are exchanged between members of the business community.

In his spare time Peter enjoys reading, listening to an eclectic mix of music, downhill and cross country skiing, and spending time with family and friends.
