Mr. Giwa – Osagie is the Senior and founding Partner of the firm. He holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Warwick, England, where he graduated in 1985.
Mr. Giwa-Osagie was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986 and thereafter worked briefly in the chambers of Chief G.O.K. Ajayi (S.A.N). He also worked with Mr. Abayomi Sogbesan (S.A.N) until 1989 before setting up the present practice on a full time basis.
Mr. Giwa-Osagie has appeared before all superior courts of record in Nigeria. He started his practice in commercial litigation and dispute resolution. He has represented parties as counsel in courts and advised clients on legal issues arising from commercial transactions.
He was given the Honorable Attorney General of the Federation’s fiat to prosecute on his behalf at the Failed Bank’s Tribunal. He also instituted the first legal action in Nigeria on behalf of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) against stock brokers and investment houses trading on the floors of the Nigerian Stock Exchange without being registered with SEC.
With his litigation background in his over 25 years of experience, Osayaba has focused his practice on corporate and commercial matters. They include mergers and acquisitions, oil and gas, mining, capital markets, aviation, banking, foreign investment and project infrastructure. He advises local and foreign clients on recent developments in direct and portfolio investments in Nigeria.
He has been involved in transactions arising from Oil and Gas projects in Nigeria. He has advised both local and foreign companies and has written several opinions on compliance with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act 2010 and the Petroleum Industry Bill.
He has also been actively involved in the mining sector. He has advised on construction and mining projects in Nigeria and reviewed commercial agreements for mining operations such as exploration agreements and joint venture agreements.
He has published and presented articles and papers on mining including a Paper titled “The Appropriate Legal and Fiscal Framework for Exploration and Mining” at the National Mining Policy Dialogue, Conference organised by the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development in collaboration with the World Bank in Abuja, Nigeria in July, 2004.
Osayaba has also advised on power purchase agreements and independent power producer projects in Nigeria. He recently advised an international company on a multi-billion Naira Gas Supply Contract. He advised a cement company on its $273 million expansion programme. This involved reviewing engineering, procurement and construction contracts, reviewing the operations and management agreement as well as the power purchase agreement.
Osayaba has represented foreign and domestic carriers in legal matters arising from doing business in Nigeria, such as passenger and cargo claims, regulatory and finance transactions. He currently represents 3 international carriers in Nigeria.

Mr. Osayaba Giwa-Osagie is a member of the International Bar Association, Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Maritime Law Association, Capital Market Solicitors Association, Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, and Honorary Legal Adviser and Director of the Nigerian-South African Chamber of Commerce.
Osayaba has attended several Seminars and Conferences including the World Petroleum Congress held in Madrid Spain 2008, Member of President Musa Yar Adua’s ((GCON) President, Federal Republic of Nigeria) delegation to Paris, France 2008, OTC held in Houston Texas 2011, African Energy Forum held in Paris 2011, Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Annual Meeting held in Denver Colorado 2011, International Bar Association Conference held in Dubai 2011, the Access International Trade Forum held in Houston 2011 and Mining Indaba.
