Matthew R. Osenga, Esq.
Matt Osenga recently joined the law firm of Goodman Allen & Filetti as Of Counsel bringing with him extensive experience in intellectual property matters, including patent litigation and prosecution, invalidity and non-infringement opinions, licensing of patents and computer technology, as well as trademark and copyright protection.He has been writing a blog dedicated to patent law issues and strategies called Inventive Step since 2008.
Mr. Osenga received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1997 and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Illinois in 2000. He has represented large and small clients in a number of different technology areas, including materials science, such as polymers, coatings, and other chemical compositions, pharmaceuticals, food products, synthetic wicker, and various mechanical devices, such as aerodynamic devices for vehicles, razor blade coatings, currency denomination machines, playing card shufflers, automatic dumpster locks, radiators, heat transfer tube configuration, charged air coolers, and others.
Mr. Osenga’s patent prosecution practice encompasses all aspects of patent practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, reexaminations, reissue application, examiner interviews, preparing briefs and arguments for appeals before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, and interference proceedings. His litigation experience also includes the preparation of briefs, pleadings, motions, and expert reports, as well as assisting in discovery and witness preparation for trial. He has also prepared briefs and motions for appeals before the Federal Circuit.
