Kevin A. Griffin is an associate attorney with Lane & Lane, LLC.

Kevin has been with Lane & Lane since June 2014 when he was first hired as a law clerk to assist Managing Partner Steve Lane. As a clerk, Kevin assisted Steve and the rest of the staff in client interviews, legal research, legal writing, trial preparation and discovery. Kevin was heavily involved in the firm’s $22.18 million verdict in Turner v. Mercy Hospital, a hotly contested, no-offer medical malpractice case, and was instrumental in the firm’s pre-trial preparations as well as the in-trial research and briefing which led to our success. Kevin was hired as an attorney in 2016 after passing the Illinois bar exam and now focuses on advocating for injured and abused victims and their families in Illinois.

At a young age, Kevin knew he wanted to practice law and his experience as a clerk at Lane & Lane confirmed that he wanted to focus his practice on representing those who have been seriously injured by the negligence of others. Kevin is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, The Chicago Bar Association and its Tort Litigation Committee.

Kevin grew up in Barrington, Illinois, and graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Journalism and minor in political science. After Marquette, Kevin attended Loyola University-Chicago School of Law where he achieved placement on the Dean’s List. While at Loyola, Kevin’s work on the benefits of extracurricular activities in less affluent schools was published in Loyola’s Education Law and Policy Journal. (See link below)

Prior to law school, Kevin took an interest in journalism education. While in college, Kevin created and managed a 10 week high school journalism workshop that gave high school students the opportunity to have their work published in a professional publication. Also while in college, Kevin volunteered a significant amount of time to managing a student newspaper at a high school for at-risk students. Under Kevin’s management, the high school published its first edition of a school newspaper in the school’s 30 year history. Kevin’s own published writing on his experience at the high school earned him a scholarship award from Marquette University. Kevin’s writing has been recognized by both the Society of Professional Journalists and the Hearst Journalism Awards Program.

Kevin believes his law degree is a promise to passionately advocate for individuals and families seeking legal representation and hold negligent individuals accountable. Kevin takes great pride in protecting victims of negligence from being taken advantage of by individuals or insurance companies representing them.
