Karin J. Mitchell, Esq.
Ms. Mitchell joined Johnson, Graffe, Keay, Moniz, & Wick, LLP in 2011 as an associate attorney. Previously, she was the legal intern at the firm beginning in 2009. Ms. Mitchell’s practice emphasizes medical liability and health care law. This includes the defense of individual medical providers and healthcare institutions in medical negligence cases and Department of Health investigations. She also consults with clients regarding internal policies, procedures, and Medical Staff by-laws.
Ms. Mitchell was the 2012 Fellow at the Seattle Municipal Mental Health Court in conjunction with the Seattle University School of Law, Mental Health Clinic.

Ms. Mitchell was born and raised in Washington. After graduating with a nursing degree, she worked at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, initially as a bone marrow transplant nurse and then as the Adult/Pediatric Critical Care Education Specialist. During this time Ms. Mitchell co-chaired the Medical Standard Practice Committee and worked in Quality Management. She also coordinated The Joint Commission preparation and review for FHCRC transplant units.
In 1996, Ms. Mitchell led the President Eisenhower Citizen Ambassador Delegation to South Africa.
In 1998, Ms. Mitchell accepted a position at Amgen, Inc. in the Oncology Business Unit. Initially, she worked as an Oncology Clinical Specialist for the Northwest. During this time she was part of the launch team for Aranesp® in the oncology marketplace. Following the launch of Aranesp®, Ms. Mitchell worked as the Regional Clinical Liaison for the Eastern United States then transferred back to the Northwest as the Western Regional Clinical Liaison. Prior to leaving Amgen, Inc. for Law School Ms. Mitchell worked as a Senior Marketing Manager.
Ms. Mitchell has been lecturing on topics in oncology, critical care, and ethics since 1992. She has presented lectures locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally in Australia and South Africa. Currently Ms. Mitchell lectures on medical and nursing malpractice, clinical licensure issues, and healthcare ethics. She has published textbook chapters on topics in hematology, immunology, oncology, and critical care.
Ms. Mitchell is admitted to practice in all Washington State Courts.
