John E. Hinkel, Jr. is a member in the firm’s Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights, Litigation, Collections and Alternative Dispute Resolution Groups. His focus on finding practical solutions for challenging financial matters has attracted a practice in creditor-debtor law, complex bankruptcies, and effective debt collection. John regularly counsels national financial institutions and other businesses in connection with credit issues, landlord-tenant collections, and related litigation.
Professional Associations and Memberships
John is a member of the Fayette County and Kentucky Bar Associations as well as being a Certified Mediator. His active involvement in the Commercial Law League of America speaks to his experience counseling, negotiating, and litigating diverse commercial matters.
Presentations and Publications
John conducts seminars for business, banking and legal audiences on issues related to effective debt collection and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. He is a contributing author for both the University of Kentucky CLE Book on Remedies and CLE Book on Debtor-Creditor Relations.
Pro Bono and Community Leadership
John’s civic activity has included service as secretary for the Faith Community Housing Foundation, Inc., and president for the Kiwanis Club of the Bluegrass. His dedication to community education is reflected by his membership on the Board of Trustees for Lexington Catholic High School. Formerly, he served on the Parish Council of Cathedral of Christ the King, president of the Lexington Catholic High School Football Booster Club and as a parent member on the Morton Middle School Site-Based Committee.
