James W. McConkie, III, Esq.
James McConkie is primarily involved in general civil and commercial litigation, with special emphasis in contract or business disputes, employment, trademark and unfair business practices matters.
Mr. McConkie also has experience in complex and class action litigation, having played a key role in a nationwide class action lawsuit against a Fortune 500 company, resulting in a $15 million verdict upheld on appeal.
Prior Professional Experience
Prior to law school, Mr. McConkie worked with an international import/export firm managing client accounts and developing projects in Eastern Europe, India, China, Bangladesh and elsewhere. During law school he worked as an analyst for the Central and East European Legal Initiative of the American Bar Association. There, he drafted the overall analysis for a variety of published works, including Analysis of the Draft Amendments for the Election Laws of the Slovak Republic and the Concept Paper on Judicial Independence (the ABA-CEELI judicial training text used throughout Eastern Europe). Upon graduation, Mr. McConkie worked as a visiting associate with the international law firm of Cisar, Ceska, Smutny & Spol in Prague, Czech Republic.
