Jim Clancy is the president of Branscomb|PC and a member of the firm’s Litigation Group. His practice focuses on complex commercial and fiduciary litigation, and he also handles selected matters defending the firm’s clients in personal injury lawsuits. His experience includes million dollar verdicts for his clients in commercial disputes and countless significant settlements and dismissals. Jim’s greatest professional satisfaction is serving as a trusted advisor.
A West Point graduate, Jim is a former Armored Cavalry Captain. He served with the 1st Cavalry Division in Operation Desert Storm.
Representative Cases:
- Achieved $14.7 million settlement in industrial construction case.
- Received $1 million jury verdict for fraud in a case brought by a geologist against a promoter.
- Obtained a $1 million breach of fiduciary duty verdict in a case brought by a charitable foundation against an individual trustee.
- Defended claims brought by 75 neighborhood plaintiffs against industrial contractor in Allums, et al. v. B.P., et al. for a refinery explosion. Settled all claims for total payment of $11,000.
- Successfully appealed order denying arbitration of wrongful death claim in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Jim lives in Portland, Texas with his wife, Reneé, and their three children. In his spare time, Jim coaches youth baseball and has strong opinions on teaching hitting and smart defense. He is also an avid golfer, engaged in a never ending search for the repeatable golf swing and a quest to play the U.S. Open venues of the last 25 years.
