Harry C. Beatty, Esq.
Harry C. Beatty received his B.A., cum laude, with honors in Philosophy and Religion, from Colgate University in 1973, and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1976. At Harvard, Harry was a member of the Board of Student Advisors, an honorary society responsible for advising and assisting in teaching and organizing competitions for, first year students.
Harry began his career with Breed Abbott & Morgan, and thereafter was associated with Botein, Hays & Sklar, at both of which he was involved in general corporate and commercial work, including securities law, finance, and mergers and acquisitions. From 1983 until 1991, Harry worked for Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Inc., most recently as Corporate Counsel and Assistant Secretary.
At Seagram, Harry, with his staff, was generally responsible for legal matters affecting the consolidated Seagram group across the breadth of its operations, including SEC and treasury matters, employee relations and benefits, and real estate. Harry has structured, negotiated and closed a variety of sophisticated acquisitions, divestitures and ventures throughout North America, Europe, the Far East, and Latin and South America.
Harry’s practice concentrates on commercial and corporate planning and advice, with particular emphasis on transactional matters, as well as distribution agreements and networks. Harry also handles the bulk of the firm’s licensing transactions and agreements, including those involving computer software and programs. Harry is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and the American Bar Association (in which he is a member of the ABA sections on Business Law, International Law, and Labor Law). Harry is admitted to the New York Bar and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He is an ordained elder of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and a former member of the Permanent Judicial Commission of the Presbytery of Newark
