David Backenstoe graduated from California State University Northridge with a bachelors degree in History. He then attended Pepperdine University School of Law. After graduation, he worked in the areas of real estate, personal injury and environmental law.

Mr. Backenstoe joined Brayton Purcell as an associate attorney in March of 1995. His current legal interests include asbestos, tobacco and animal law. He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Consumer Attorneys of California. Mr. Backenstoe’s hobbies include playing the drums, Afro–Cuban percussion, and piano.
