Jeff has represented clients throughout the United States in federal and state courts as well as before the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, the SEC, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau.  His trial practice focuses primarily (but not exclusively) on competitive issues.  Many of the cases he has tried involve disputes among competitors and relate to advertising, distribution, antitrust, trade secrets and intellectual property.  He has tried employment discrimination cases involving age, sex, race and origin.  He has also tried cases concerning non-competition agreements, and many of them have involved temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions.

Jeff has served as national defense counsel in products liability class actions.  He was part of the defense liaison team that handled one of the largest consumer class actions involving a recall of dog and cat food.  This MDL action included nearly 100 products liability class actions filed in the U.S. and Canada, and the cases were brought against 40 manufacturers, suppliers and retailers.  He has also served as lead defense counsel in class actions filed throughout the United States involving products liability, securities and employment discrimination.  He has been retained to arbitrate disputes, and he has handled cases in arbitration, including class actions.

Jeff has been recognized by his peers each year since its inception as an Ohio Super Lawyer, a statewide recognition earned as a result of a survey conducted byCincinnati magazine.  He is listed in the Best Lawyers in America (Advertising Law, Bet-the-Company Litigation and Commercial Litigation) and in Chambers USA:  America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.  He has been recognized annually as one of the Best of the Bar based on a survey conducted by the Dayton Business Journal.  He was selected as a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers, an invitation-only organization that is reserved for experienced trial lawyers.  He is also a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Ohio State Bar Foundation and Dayton Bar Foundation.  He is a member of the Ohio Board of Governors of the Antitrust Section of the Ohio State Bar Association, and speaks frequently at Section seminars on antitrust and competitive issues.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Cincinnati Bar Association and Dayton Bar Association.

Jeff is one of the founding partners of Faruki Ireland & Cox P.L.L.  He practices out of the firm’s offices in Dayton and Cincinnati.

Mr. Ireland has had numerous leadership positions in the community.  He is the President of the Dayton Bar Association. He has served for 12 years as a member of City Council for a local suburb, and for 10 of those years, he was Mayor.  He has served as a board member or board chair on a variety of not-for-profit organizations.  The University of Dayton School of Law awarded him its Distinguished Alumni Award for his service to the community and the profession.

Jeff has argued cases to the Sixth, Seventh and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals, as well as the Ohio Supreme Court and Courts of Appeals throughout Ohio.  He is a Master in the Carl D. Kessler Inn of Court.
