Curtis Dowling is a civil trial attorney. His areas of practice include general litigation, insurance defense, products liability, insurance coverage, trucking and transportation law, personal injury, and professional negligence. In connection with his professional negligence practice, Mr. Dowling has defended numerous accountants, title abstractors, chiropractors, and nursing homes. He has also defended approximately three hundred attorneys in legal malpractice actions.
As part of his practice, Mr. Dowling also handles appellate proceedings before the South Carolina Supreme Court and South Carolina Court of Appeals. His reported cases include Stiles v. Onorato, 318 S.C. 297, 457 S.E.2d 601 (1995), and Cianbro v. Jeffcoat, 804 F.Supp. 784 (D.S.C. 1992), which both addressed legal standards in malpractice actions.
A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Curtis received both his undergraduate degree (1980) and law degree (1985) from the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the Richland County and South Carolina Bar Associations, as well as the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association.
Mr. Dowling enjoys most sports and has coached youth sports for many years.
