BACKGROUND Chris received a B.A. in Economics from Southern Methodist University in 1988, and his J.D. from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College in 1993. Before law school, Chris worked as an economist for Pacific Gas & Electric in San Francisco.

After graduating from law school, Chris served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Paul J. DeMuniz, Oregon Court of Appeals, from 1997-99. He also served as the staff attorney to the Oregon Supreme Court’s Racial and Ethnic Task Force Implementation Committee from 1994-96, and while awaiting the commencement of his judicial clerkship, honed his trial skills while working as a Southern Oregon public defender from 1996-97.

AREAS OF PRACTICE Chris’ practice focuses on civil litigation and business-related transactional work, emphasizing employment and business tort claims in the litigation context, and deal-making and general-counsel services in the business arena. Chris uses an innovative, creative and client-centered approach to serving his clients, whether the issue involves drafting contracts or resolving a dispute. Chris has specific experience in litigating:

  • Whistleblower claims, including federal qui tam actions
  • Workplace discrimination and harassment claims
  • Defamation claims
  • Wage and hour claims
  • Stock redemption matters
  • Contract disputes
  • Trademark disputes

In his business practice, Chris emphasizes assisting Native American tribes with developing their economic enterprises, and serving small and medium-sized companies.
