Professional experience Born and raised in the Triple Cities area, Ms. McKain joined Coughlin & Gerhart, L.L.P. in 2009. After graduating from law school, Ms. McKain practiced employee benefits law in several boutique firms in Washington, D.C. Upon returning to New York, Ms. McKain gained real estate experience in the mortgage department of a local credit union. At Coughlin & Gerhart, L.L.P. she provides counsel on a wide range of employee benefits issues for private companies and public entities, and also works in the areas of litigation, real estate, and estate planning. Ms. McKain practices primarily in Coughlin & Gerhart’s Ithaca office, traveling to other locations as needed. Ms. McKain is on the Board of The History Center of Tompkins County. She also currently works with Sustainable Tompkins, a nonprofit devoted to promoting local and regional sustainability. She was the chair of the 2010 Law Day Committee for the Tompkins County Bar Association. Ms. McKain is a member of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, Finger Lakes Chapter, the Tompkins County and Broome County Bar Associations, and the American Bar Association.
