Carl Lang joined the firm in 1973 and is now a member of the firm’s management committee. Carl has a diverse practice specializing in taxation, real estate, closely held businesses, finance and estate planning.

Carl primarily focuses on real estate development and is intimately involved in public/private partnerships relating to Affordable Housing. Carl’s practice is national in scope having successfully closed transactions in nearly 30 states, many involving multiple of financing, including public and private debt and equity. Locally, Carl has served as Developer’s counsel for the historic rehabilitation of the Westin Hotel, the Old Post Office, the Board of Education Building and numerous other buildings in the Downtown St. Louis area. By integrating his real estate, finance and tax expertise, Carl has assisted developers in utilizing Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits and New Market Tax Credits in many large new construction and rehabilitation projects. Additionally, Mr. Lang has extensive experience with all areas of financing involving the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, Tax Exempt Bond Financing, Hope VI Financing, Mixed Finance, Senior Housing and state and local housing programs.

In addition to real estate, Mr. Lang has extensive experience representing nursing homes, physician practices, and many other closely held businesses.

Mr. Lang has lectured and taught courses on Business Law, Valuing Closely Held Businesses and Real Estate Development.

Mr. Lang is licensed to practice in Missouri and the United States Tax Court and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.
