Barry Miller is a member in the firm’s Litigation Group, chairs the Technology Committee and heads the firm’s Electronic Discovery practice. Barry has more than 15 years of experience litigating a variety of commercial litigation and insurance defense disputes in federal and state courts. He has considerable experience representing both insurers and policy holders in extra-contractual insurance cases including first and third party cases. Barry also handles insurance coverage litigation and appellate practice matters.

Prior to joining Fowler, Barry honed his communication and technology skills in small-town journalism. As a reporter, Barry was charged with presenting complicated problems and issues in a way that made them easily accessible to his readership. Barry developed the ability to quickly learn new technologies and effectively translate sophisticated legal complexities into easily understood issues. His clients appreciate his collaborative strength in presenting and resolving difficult legal issues with strong practical solutions that work. In his leadership role with the Technology Committee and Electronic Discovery group, Barry actively develops his firm’s acumen in maximizing technological resources on behalf of the firm’s clients.

Professional Associations and Memberships
Barry is a member of the Fayette County and Kentucky Bar Associations, and a member of the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, and serves on its Electronic Discovery Committee.

Presentations
Barry lectures frequently to attorneys and investigators in his field. He conducts CLE seminars on issues related to bad faith, and has presented a lecture to the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators on expert witness preparation. He also speaks on the topic of Electronic Discovery to a variety of business trade organizations including the Greater Lexington Paralegal Association, the Bluegrass Section of the Risk Insurance and Management Society and the Lexington Professional Women’s Forum.

Pro Bono and Community Leadership
Barry’s community leadership activities are focused on education, including service as a member of the Jessamine County Education Foundation and Nicholasville-Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce.
