Angel L. Casiano-Ruiz, Esq.
Mr. Casiano joined Ferraiuoli as an Associate in July 2011.
Prior to joining Ferraiuoli, Mr. Casiano was an associate at a law firm in San Juan, where he specialized in administrative law and regulatory matters involving telecommunications service providers and the Puerto Rico Telecommunications Regulatory Board. Mr. Casiano has assisted some of the largest telecommunications service providers in Puerto Rico, in diverse matters ranging from consumer complaints to compliance with local and federal Universal Service Fund regulation. In addition to administrative and regulatory matters, Mr. Casiano has also worked with clients in monitoring and addressing legislative measures with the potential to impact the telecommunications industry or a particular client. Presently, at Ferraiuoli’s Intellectual Property practice, Mr. Casiano focuses on patent matters involving drafting, prosecution, counseling, and infringement analysis.
In the Summer of 2008, Mr. Casiano joined a national law firm as patent associate and relocated to Madison, Wisconsin, where he resided until returning to Puerto Rico.
Intellectual property is a familiar field for Mr. Casiano. He enrolled in law school while working at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). As a Patent Examiner, Mr. Casiano was responsible for reviewing applications covering computer architecture and network inventions. As part of his duties, Mr. Casiano was also responsible for drafting reports addressing the patentability of these applications. In March 2006, Mr. Casiano left the USPTO to pursue a career in the private sector. During the last two years of law school, Mr. Casiano worked as a law clerk at two IP boutique law firms in downtown Washington, D.C.
