An Associate at Montgomery Barnett since 2009 with a commercial litigation practice involving bankruptcy, oil & gas, corporate and construction matters.
Mr. Lilly is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts as well as the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Southern District of Texas, and the U.S. fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
At Louisiana State University Law Center (Juris Doctor/Bachelor of Civil Law, 2009), Mr. Lilly competed in Vienna, Austria as part of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration team during his second and third years. In 2009, Lilly was named one of the top three individual advocates at the Southwest Regional in Houston, where his team was Runner-Up. That same year, the LSU team was awarded Honorable Mention for Best Claimant’s Memorandum in the Vienna, Austria competition, one of only six American submissions recognized in a competition featuring schools from 58 nations. Lilly was also a member of LSU’s Trial Advocacy Board and earned CALI awards for the top performance in several of his academic courses.
A 1998 graduate of The Citadel (Bachelor of Arts, English Literature), Mr. Lilly held the General Alexander Haig Scholarship (Track and Cross Country) and was the captain of the Citadel track and field team and MVP of the cross country and track & field teams. Lilly also held senior officer rank, served on the NCAA Student-Advisory Committee and was named to the Dean’s List.
Active in the Federal Bar Association (FBA), Mr. Lilly currently sits on its local Board of Directors (New Orleans Chapter) and its national Board of Directors (Younger Lawyers’ Division). He is a member of the FBA’s National Committee on Law School Outreach, and he is the Chair of the FBA’s National YLD Committee on Law School Outreach. Lilly also served on the Host Committee for the 2010 FBA National Convention and Annual Meeting and is currently part of a Membership committee of the New Orleans Chapter – the largest FBA chapter in the United States.
Mr. Lilly is also a member of the American and Louisiana State Bar Associations, the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, and the New Orleans Bar Association, serving on NOBA’s Oil & Gas Committee.
