Alison D. Kohler is the Past President of the Maryland Association for Justice (formerly the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association) and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Georgetown University Law Center, magna cum laude, in 1981. As an undergraduate, Alison attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she received two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in Chemical Engineering and one in Humanities and Science.

Alison has long fought to protect the legal rights of injured victims through her leadership positions in the Maryland Association for Justice. Alison has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Maryland Association for Justice since 1998 where she served as an Officer as well as President, between 2001 and 2007.

Alison is licensed to practice law in Maryland and maintains the prestigious “A/V” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, publisher of the Definitive Directory of America’s Leading Lawyers. Over her career, Alison has recovered millions of dollars for her clients and has been distinguished for her accomplishments as a member of the “Million Dollar Advocates Forum”. Alison has been perennially recognized as a “Super Lawyer” by her peers and as one of “Top 500 Lawyers” by Law Dragon.

Alison has litigated complex medical malpractice, personal injury and nursing home cases in both the state and federal courts. Complementing her legal practice, Alison is a past president of the Executive Women’s Network and was a board member of the Maryland Humanities Council. Alison continues to serve on the Grants Committee of the Council.

Alison, her husband, and their two children live on a farm in rural Maryland with a menagerie of two horses, two dogs, several cats, a rabbit, and a flock of geese. Alison is an active volunteer in her church and in her children’s schools, helping to produce school musicals as well as supporting related school activities.

When able to take a respite from her busy trial practice, Alison, a lifelong singer, has been involved with various choral groups and theater companies, ranging from singing with the Boston Symphony as part of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus to participating in Gilbert & Sullivan operettas in Baltimore’s Young Victorian Theatre.

Alison keeps herself active by playing golf, fishing, skiing and horseback riding with her family and friends.
