Neil Dymott Shareholder Sheila Trexler Awarded “San Diego Best Lawyers Professional Malpractice Lawyer of the Year” for 2011

Neil, Dymott, Frank, McFall & Trexler APLC (San Diego, CA) shareholder, Sheila S. Trexler was named "San Diego Best Lawyers Professional Malpractice Lawyer of the Year" for 2011. After more than a quarter of a century in publication, Best Lawyers designated "Lawyers of the Year" in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community was honored as the "Lawyer of the Year."

Sheila Trexler has been a shareholder at Neil, Dymott, Frank, McFall & Trexler APLC since 1993 and director since 2004. Ms. Trexler’s expertise includes medical and hospital malpractice and elder abuse matters. Ms. Trexler has been named one of the “Top 50 Women Litigators in California” by the Los Angeles Daily Journal and was recognized as the "San Diego Defense Lawyer of the Year" by the San Diego Defense Lawyers Association in 2009. In addition, Ms. Trexler is honored to be an associate member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates.

Ms. Trexler is an adjunct professor at California Western School of Law, where she teaches a course on medical malpractice litigation and frequently lectures on medical and legal topics to nurses, physicians and attorneys.

Iseman, Cunningham, Riester & Hyde Attorneys Featured Speakers at November Health Care Education Event

Iseman, Cunningham, Riester & Hyde, LLP (Albany, NY) attorneys Carol Hyde, Marcia Smith and Mike Deyo were featured speakers at the Healthcare Financial Management Association of Northeastern New York's November education event, "Corporate Compliance Programs – Industry Best Practices." The event was held on November 18, 2010 at the Edison Club in Rexford, New York. Topics included HIPAA Security Audits and Best Practices, Breach Notification Requirements, the False Claims Act and other Key Statutes, and the Self-Disclosure of Overpayments, including the new Stark self-disclosure protocol.

The event took place at the Edison Club in Rexford, New York on November 18, 2010 and was attended by approximately 25 accountants, hospital administrators and other health care executives. The seminar was open to anyone interested in hospital administration, corporate compliance, false claims act, HIPAA, and other healthcare related issues.

National Diversity Council Names Ohio Powerful & Influential Woman Award

Freund, Freeze & Arnold (Dayton, OH), A Legal Professional Association, is pleased to announce that Susan Blasik-Miller was among the most powerful and influential professional women in Ohio at a recent event hosted by the National Diversity Council. On October 7, 2010, the National Diversity Council presented Susan with an award during a reception in Columbus attended by Governor Ted Strickland, Dr. Cornel West, Donna Brazille and other dignitaries.

Susan was named as Ohio “Super Lawyer” in 2006 – 2010, a list jointly prepared by Law & Politics Magazine and Cincinnati Magazine and was voted as one of "Best Lawyers in America" in since 2007.

Ms. Blasik-Miller was the first and only woman elected to official position (President) of the Ohio Chapter of American Board of Trial Advocates, as well as the first woman in greater Dayton metropolitan area elected as Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Susan was also President of the Dayton Bar Association (2004-05) and President of the Dayton Bar Foundation (2007-08).

Collins & Lacy Attorneys Among Emerging Legal Leaders

Collins & Lacy, P.C. (Columbia, SC) is proud to announce that Suzanne (Suzy) Boulware Cole and Robert F. Goings have been named finalists in the South Carolina Lawyers Weekly Emerging Legal Leaders Award.
Cole and Goings are among the top 18 finalists based on the significant impact they have made on the legal profession and the community at large. The honorees were chosen from a pool of nominations of South Carolina attorneys who have practiced 10 years or less.

As a shareholder concentrating in workers’ compensation in Collins & Lacy’s Greenville office, Cole has tried numerous cases before the Workers’ Compensation Commission and argued before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court. She also argued before the Workers’ Compensation Commission sitting en banc in the wake of the hotly-contested executive orders issued by Governor Mark Sanford. Some of the community organizations to which Cole has devoted her time over the years include serving as commissioner of the Spartanburg Housing Authority and a volunteer for Girl Scouts of South Carolina-Mountains to Midlands.

Robert Goings joined Collins & Lacy as an associate in 2006. He also represents individuals and entities in matters involving civil rights and constitutional issues. Goings was recently admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.

On December 2, 2010 Christian & Small LLP (Birmingham, AL) partner, Ken O. Simon and associate, J. Paul Zimmerman, presented a webinar titled "What Litigators Need to Know About the Impact of Cloud Computing on e-Discovery Obligations in Litigation," for ExecSense. Simon and Zimmerman examined the legal issues litigators need to be aware of during the E-Discovery process when clients' electronically stored information is held by cloud vendors – third party vendors that hold a company's data, electronic information and e-mail on virtual servers to be accessed by the company via the Internet.
